One person is dead after fire tore through a house in regional Tasmania.
Police discovered the blaze during a routine patrol at Hale Street, South Burnie, on the state's northwest coast, about 1.30am on Monday.
Tasmania Fire Service crews rushed to the scene and extinguished the blaze in about 15 minutes.
A body was located inside and police are working to identify the person.
"Fire investigators will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and a report will be prepared for the coroner," statement from the fire service stated.
"Our thoughts and condolences are with all those affected by this incident."
