Recently unveiled body camera footage captures the heartwarming rescue of a 100-year-old woman at a senior living apartment complex amidst the Eaton Fire earlier this month.
Los Angeles Sheriff's Department (LASD) deputies embarked on a courageous mission to locate and assist residents in need during the blaze. The video showcases Deputies Nicholas Martinez and Quinn Alkonis diligently searching the complex on Jan. 8, going from door to door and hallway to hallway, ensuring no one was left behind.
The intensity of the fire is evident as the orange glow and smoke seep through the windows of the units, prompting Deputy Alkonis to express her astonishment at the sight.

Continuing their search, Deputy Alkonis calls out, 'Sheriff's department. Anybody inside? You gotta evacuate,' as they strive to ensure the safety of all residents.
Amidst the chaos, the deputies hear a faint response and rush to find the elderly woman, disoriented and struggling to navigate her way to safety.
The woman, who is deaf and without her hearing aid, pleads with the deputies not to lose her, to which they reassure her of a safe evacuation.
Sheriff Robert Luna commended the deputies and all responders for their unwavering dedication and bravery in the face of danger, emphasizing their selfless commitment to saving lives during the wildfires.
The Eaton Fire, which ignited on Jan. 7, has ravaged over 14,000 acres of land but is now 99% contained. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
