Bobby Wagner looking for one-year deal around $11 million

The Seahawks officially released their legendary middle linbeacker Bobby Wagner 18 days ago. Wagner hit free agency as one of the top players on the market and after two weeks of transactions he may very-well be the best one that’s still available.

So far, Wagner has met with at least two NFL teams: the division rival Rams and the Ravens, who he visited with over the weekend. Other teams that are reported to be interested in Wagner include the Cardinals, 49ers and Cowboys. It seems he hasn’t been able to find anyone to meet his price as of yet. According to Peter King’s latest Football Morning in America column, Wagner is looking for a one-year deal around $11 million.

“Rams have legitimate interest, but not at Wagner’s price—he’s thought to be asking for about $11 million on a one-year deal. The 32-year-old linebacker is still playing very well, and he’d be a luxury item for the Super Bowl champs. If he wants to stay in the same division as the team that dropped him, Seattle, Wagner will have to recalibrate his asking price down. He may just find another team—Baltimore? Dallas?—with more money available.”

Wagner was set to earn around $20 million with the Seahawks for the 2022 season – which made him a potential salary cap casualty even before he lost half a step down the stretch and then injured his knee. However, the way it happened came as a shock. Wagner says the team did not inform him of his release. Since then, head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider have apologized for what they’re calling a miscommunication.
