Bobby Wagner confirms there had been mutual interest with Cowboys

Former Seahawks star Bobby Wagner is the newest starting linebacker for the Los Angeles Rams but he very well could have chosen to sign with another team. During a recent interview with CNBC, Wagner confirmed the mutual interest with the Dallas Cowboys was real.

“That was a real thing, Wagner said. “We had conversations. I love Dan Quinn and have a lot of respect for him. But between their needs and what they were willing to spend, we couldn’t agree. But there was mutual interest.”

Wagner is more than familiar with Quinn, the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator, having played under him in Seattle. The reunion, however, wasn’t meant to be.

“Between the Rams and Cowboys – those are teams that have been around for a long time and have a lot of history,” Wagner continued. “Being able to be a part of any of those franchises boosts your notoriety.

“And I landed on one.”
