Bobby Brazier has revealed he was left shaking from a 'hugely' emotional EastEnders scene as he prepares to make his debut as Freddy Slater next week.
The 19-year-old son of the late Jade Goody is set to cause a stir in Albert Square as he takes over the role of Little Mo's son, Freddy - last seen in Walford 16 years ago.
And Bobby, who has previously done some modelling work, seems to be fully immersing himself into his first big acting role, so much so that some dramatic scenes have left him emotionally drained.
The teenager says Freddy is set of a huge storyline, with his character facing "grief, anger and emotion".
Speaking to The Mirror and other press about the huge storyline, Bobby said: "I've been thrown in at the deep end! It was a huge moment for me. I had an emotional scene where I came into the café and I was like, 'I don't want any b******t no more, stop lying to me.'
"There was grief, there was anger, there was a lot of emotion, Freddie was overwhelmed.
"Before we filmed it I had prepped but I hadn't got into the emotions, over lunch I decided to lock myself in my dressing room and get the emotions of Freddie and really understand the emotions of the scene and I feel like I smashed it."
He added: "I was overwhelmed with emotion to the point where I was shaking."
Bobby said as soon as the cameras cut some of the experienced cast were on hand to support him.
"As soon as they were done Emma (who plays Honey) and Perry (who plays Billy) literally got up and came round the corner to give you a big kiss and a cuddle," he said.
"It meant so much I really appreciate that. I love stuff like that so that's a big moment for me and they made sure I knew that I did well."
The character of Freddie was last seen in Walford in May 2006 when he and his mother, Maureen “Little Mo” Slater, left to start a new life.
He is returning to Albert Square, aged 18, and finds himself on a path that could lead to heartbreak.
Describing his character, Brazier said: “There is a depth to Freddie… he isn’t trying to prove himself as a bad boy.
“He’s got a lot of depth to him and he’s in touch with that I think but he’s also a lad in the way that he does silly things.
“He’s reckless but it always comes from a place of that depth of love. Freddie is still developing, which is fun.”
Big Brother star Jade, who died in 2009 aged 27 after being diagnosed with cervical cancer, had Bobby and his brother Freddy, now 17, with fellow reality TV star Jeff Brazier.
She was an avid fan of EastEnders and in 2006 reportedly petitioned two of its stars to talk to their bosses about securing her a role during a chance meeting at V Festival.
