Bob Saget died from a head injury that he likely thought nothing of at the time, his family said Wednesday.
Saget was stunningly found dead at age 65 in his hotel bed Jan. 9 in Orlando, Fla., shortly after a comedy show.
“The authorities have determined that Bob passed from head trauma,” his family said in a statement to media outlets. “They have concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep.”
Investigators had previously ruled out drugs and foul play in Saget’s death. They suspected that he died from a heart attack or stroke, but those suspicions proved inaccurate.
Saget had a bruise on this back of his head and likely died from a brain bleed, TMZ reported. Investigators believe he went to sleep peacefully after the show.
The “Full House” star’s funeral was held Jan. 14 in Los Angeles.
“Today will be the hardest day of my life,” Saget’s co-star and friend John Stamos said before the ceremony. “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”
