Bob Dylan to play Dublin 3Arena gig later this year

It’s time to Knock on Heaven's Door as Bob Dylan plans to play a 3Arena gig later this year.

The concert will take place on November 7 - just two months away - and tickets will go on sale Thursday 1 September at 9am. The 81-year-old rock legend is extending his current leg of touring to Ireland and word is that this is set to be a mobile phone-free gig.

Dylan became a voice of protest in the 1960s and a lot of his work is the subject of academic study. Some of his songs such as Blowin' in the Wind and The Times They Are a-Changin' became anthems for the civil rights and antiwar movements back in the day.

The legend has sold over 125 million records, and has been given a number of very important awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, ten Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award. He was even awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition".

The Pulitzer PrizeBoard also awarded him a special citation for "his profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power" back in 2008.
