Bob Dylan announces his first UK tour in five years - but phones are banned

It's been announced that Bob Dylan will be touring the UK for the first time in more than five years soon, though the gigs have been described as "non-phone events."

The musician, 81, is set to play nine dates in October this year as part of this Rough and Rowdy Ways world tour - which has been underway since November last year.

The tour - which is in support of his most recent album, of the same name - will bring him to London, Cardiff, Hull, Nottingham and Glasgow over the course of two weeks.

The UK dates were announced this morning, ahead of tickets being released on Friday (July 15) - with it stated that the use of phones isn't permitted during the gigs.

According to a press release, "the shows are non-phone events" with attendees having to put such devices into a Yondr bag for the duration of the performance.

It was stated that the audience won't be separated from their phones though as "they can keep with them until after the show" - though within the locked pouches.

The upcoming UK leg of the worldwide tour will kick off with four nights at the London Palladium between October 19 and 24. He will then travel elsewhere for other shows.

He opened his latest tour - Rough and Rowdy Ways - in the US last year, with him said to have since performed 74 concerts all over his native country over the last six months.

Tickets are set to go on sale on Friday (July 15) at 10am.
