Bo Nix had a frank response when asked about his interception

Two plays after a trick play and 49-yard pass set the Denver Broncos up in the red zone against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, rookie quarterback Bo Nix threw a bad interception that cost the team at least three points.

Following a 13-6 loss, Nix was asked about that interception in his post-game press conference.

“That falls on me,” Nix said. “That was just a bad decision. [You] can’t have that.”

A few questions later, Nix was asked to explain what happened on the interception.

“Uh, yeah,” Nix said. “[I] dropped back, threw it to the other team.”

Quite a literal response.

Nix apparently was not the only one to blame for the turnover.

“We had a mistake in the route, too, so there are some dirty hands on that play,” coach Sean Payton explained after the game.

Nix was later asked about wide receiver Josh Reynolds, who caught the 49-yard pass before Nix’s interception. Unprompted, Nix then revisited the turnover and took responsibility again.

“It’s stuff like that that you look at it as an offense and you have to get points,” the rookie QB said. “You can’t turn the ball over like I did right after that with the momentum. I can sit here and say that, but I just have to go out there and execute better.”

Nix will get his first opportunity to bounce back when the Broncos go on the road to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3.
