Bo Nix facing a jersey number dilemma with the Broncos

Welcome to the NFL, Bo Nix! Now, about your jersey number…

Nix wore jersey No. 10 at Pinson Valley High School in Alabama. Then he went to Auburn and continued wearing No. 10. Then he transferred to Oregon and kept No. 10. Then he was picked by the Denver Broncos in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft on Thursday night.

Just three days before the draft, the Broncos acquired quarterback Zach Wilson from the New York Jets. Just nine hours before the draft, Wilson picked jersey No. 10. Wilson doesn’t seem to have a special attachment to No. 10 — he wore No. 2 in New York and No. 1 in college — but he had limited options when he landed in Denver.

As Andrew Mason of DenverSports.com pointed out on Twitter/X, NFL rules require quarterbacks to wear a number between 1-19 (unless all of those numbers are taken). When Wilson joined the Broncos, only two numbers between 1 and 19 were available: 10 and 16.

So unless he’s able to reach an agreement with one of his new teammates, Nix’s only option will be to wear No. 16.

You can pre-order Nix’s jersey now. It will ship when his number has been finalized.
