BMW crash on Scots road leaves one man hospitalised

Traffic is building on a major Scots road after a black BMW saloon car ploughed into a crash barrier.

Emergency services were called to the southbound A92 at Crossgates, east of Dunfermline, Fife, shortly before 12pm on Sunday May 14. Images posted on social media showed the vehicle at a standstill at the side of the road, its airbags deployed.

Pieces of crash barrier appear to be scattered across the carriageway in the aftermath of the smash. One lane of the road, which connects to the M90 motorway linking Perth and Edinburgh, has been closed while investigations and clean-up works were carried out.

In an update issued shortly after 1.30pm, road network monitors Traffic Scotland said: "The A92 slip to M90(S) at, lane 1 (of 2) closed southbound due to a road traffic incident. Motorists are advised to use caution on approach and allow for longer than anticipated journey times."

Police have since confirmed that one man has been taken to hospital by ambulance following the smash. His current condition is unknown.

A spokesperson said: "Around 11.55am on Sunday, 14 May, police were called to a report of a road crash on the A92 near Crossgates. Officers attended and the vehicle was recovered. One man was taken to hospital by ambulance."
