A Blues musical legend will jazz up the Coatbridge music scene with a much-anticipated gig in the town next month.

Thirty-year veteran Catfish Keith is being brought to Lanarkshire by not-for-profit collective 50rpm on Friday, November 4.

The singer-songwriter will perform at 50rpm's regular show venue The Georgian Hotel as the organisation continues to bring live music and comedy to Coatbridge following a break over the summer.

Cutting-edge musician and bottleneck slide guitarist Catfish has established himself as one of the most exciting country Blues performers of our time.

Catfish’s innovative style of foot-stomping, deep Delta Blues and American roots music has spellbound audiences the world over.

He is a two-time W. C. Handy Blues Award nominee for Best Accoustic Blues Album and was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2008.

Catfish has 12 number one independent radio chart-topping albums to his credit, and packs houses all over the world with his dynamic stage show.

He has made a dozen solo albums including his latest, Live at the Half Moon (on Fish Tail) , and has become a respected educator as well as performer, doing guitar workshops, master classes and blues in schools throughout the the world.

A 50rpm spokesman told Lanarkshire Live : "We are thrilled to have Catfish coming to Coatbridge and we're sure the audience will love watching him perform.

"Following on from Catfish's gig, we have Bob Cheevers and Stephen Doster, D. Cullen and Marina Rolink, Ewan MacFarlane, Richard Jobson and Martin Metcalfe, Andy White, and Broken Chanter all booked in for shows at The Georgian Hotel over the next few months.

“50rpm is proof that people can make a difference to their local communities and we have been approached by organisations across the UK and Europe wanting advice and help in setting up their own community-based music club.”
