Toronto Blue Jays reliever Tim Mayza took on a new job on Saturday during his team’s spring training matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Rather than firing pitches from the mound against the opposition, Mayza served as a bat boy throughout the game—a job that came as punishment for a poor finish in the team’s fantasy football league.
In addition to attending to ball boy duties, Mayza was gifted with a new jersey to acknowledge his fantasy failure. Rather than wearing his usual No. 58 jersey, the number on his back read 4–10, a nod to his record in the league.

Mayza’s performance on the mound last year was better than his output as a fantasy manager, posting a career-best 1.52 ERA over 53.1 innings pitched.
Hopefully next year Mayza can carry some of that magic over into October, whether it be in the MLB playoffs or fantasy football season.
