Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah talked so much trash to the Red Sox after strikeouts

Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah is one of the more lively personalities in baseball. That personality was on display at the All-Star Game, especially when Manoah was mic’d up on the mound. It was great.

But that was just an exhibition game. Actual competition gets Manoah really fired up, and the Boston Red Sox almost seemed to be caught off guard by it all.

During Saturday’s game between the Blue Jays and Red Sox at Fenway Park, Manoah gave up a second-inning home run and fourth-inning single to Bobby Dalbec. That was on Manoah’s mind when Dalbec stepped to the plate in the sixth inning with two outs.

Manoah caught Dalbec looking on a 95 mph fastball to end the inning, and the Blue Jays pitcher could be seen shouting at Dalbec to, uh, take a seat.

It wasn’t just to Dalbec either. Manoah also had words for Franchy Cordero after a strikeout, who stared back at the Blue Jays pitcher.

After the game, Manoah joked that the exchange was about BioSteel and Gatorade because of course he did. Via The Athletic:

“I think I had said, ‘Let’s go get some BioSteel.’ And he was like, ‘Nah, man, you need to go get some Gatorade.’ And I was like, ‘No, you need to go sit down, I’m going to go get some BioSteel.’”

As expected, MLB fans had plenty of thoughts about Manoah’s exchanges with the Red Sox.
