Overwatch 2 season 4 is coming up soon, and Blizzard is teasing a “cute” new support hero with high-level mechanics for the multiplayer game. While we’ve yet to actually see a proper reveal, Overwatch 2 executive producer Jared Neuss shared a brief bit about what to expect during some recent livestreams.
During one (thanks, Overwatch Cavalry), Neuss said the two heroes, both of whom are support heroes, will be cute. Someone in the chat asked what kind of cute, offering a few different options: Mercy-level cute, “Torbjorn in a bikini” cute, or “cat with a jetpack” cute, referring to a canceled hero from the original Overwatch.
Neuss said he believes most people will find them cute like Mercy. He didn’t elaborate on what that might mean, but in a separate stream with other team members, Neuss said the upcoming hero was a kid and wasn’t “cute like Wrecking Ball.”
The team also mentioned that he’ll have “mechanics that will be really interesting to watch unfold in high-level games.” Blizzard previously promised to make playing the support role more interesting in an effort to help balance play – and reduce queue loads for other roles – so it seems we won’t have to wait much longer to see that promise come to fruition.
Overwatch 2 season 4 doesn’t have a start date yet, but if season 3 follows the game’s previous pattern, it’ll likely begin sometime in April 2023.
