Blizzard showcased a new Overwatch 2 trailer at Xbox Games Showcase 2023, and despite canceling the multiplayer game’s PvE, the trailer focuses very much on PvE modes. Blizzard has quite a bit in store for Overwatch 2, though you’ll have to wait until season 6 on Aug. 10, 2023, to see it.
In the trailer, we see story segments in Toronto, Sojourn’s home, and a few other places, with Lucio, Echo, Reinhardt, and Tracer joining up to take down threats across the world. Whether it’s actually a story-based event or just background for a new mode is unclear. Blizzard did previously say the team kept some of the canceled PvE content for future updates, so this is probably some of that.
Blizzard said several new modes are in the works, including Flashpoint, which plays out on at least one new arena. A co-op event sees you team up to fight squadrons of robots, and if you’re not used to how a hero plays, you can – finally – get a crash course in their abilities in the new Hero Mastery mode.
Speaking of heroes, Blizzard is adding a new Overwatch 2 bundle that gives you all the existing new Overwatch 2 heroes at once, instead of having to complete obscure challenges to unlock them. You can get it for free if you have Xbox Game Pass.
