Much to the dismay of Overwatch 2 fans, Blizzard announced Monday that Mei will not be playable for the next couple of weeks.
“We are temporarily disabling Mei to address a bug with her Ice Wall ability that allows heroes to reach unintended locations,” Blizzard said on Twitter. “We are working to address these issues as quickly as possible and aim to bring Mei back in our next upcoming patch.”
Mei’s big problem right now involves a glitch with her ice wall ability, which some players are using to get outside the bounds of Overwatch 2‘s maps. Reddit user Ravnuslock shared a clip of the exploit in question, which you can watch below (thanks, Polygon).
Game breaking exploit on Busan – Remove the map asap from the rotation from Overwatch
It’s not the first time Blizzard has taken a popular hero out of circulation since launch. Several weeks ago, Bastion and Torbjörn suffered a similar fate. As with those characters, though, Mei’s removal is only temporary — she should (hopefully) be back on Nov. 15, 2022.
Overwatch 2‘s launch hasn’t been the smoothest. At release, the login queue times were astoundingly long, which left fans upset. Blizzard did iron things out in time and even gave away some free cosmetic items as an apology of sorts.
