A visually-impaired man's white walking cane was broken as he was allegedly attacked at a Metrolink tram station, police chiefs have revealed.
A grainy CCTV image showing a man police want to speak with in connection with the reported incident has been released by Greater Manchester Police.
The man suffered injuries, although the extent of them haven't been revealed, and the force said his white walking aid was broken in the alleged assault. His age hasn't been revealed.
It's said to have happened at Sale Water Park Metrolink Station in Sale, Trafford, at around 2pm on February 16, 2023. Details have only just been revealed by the force.
GMP have shared an appeal on its social media channels and urged anyone with information, or anyone who recognises the man pictured, to come forward. The force's transport unit is investigating.
In a statement, the force said: "GMP are seeking the public's help to identify a man they want to speak to in relation to an alleged assault
"The Greater Manchester Police Transport Unit have released an image of a man - pictured - they want to speak to in relation to an assault on a visually impaired man at Sale Water Park Metrolink Station at around 2pm on 16 February, 2023.
"During the alleged assault, the victim sustained injuries and his white cane was broken.
"If you recognise the man in the image, please contact Greater Manchester Police on 0161 856 6758, quoting log number 1752 23/2/2023, or alternatively contact the independent charity - Crimestoppers – anonymously on 0800 555 111."
No further details have been revealed.
