Blick Bassy: One of Africa's most inventive and distinctive singer-songwriters

arts24 © FRANCE 24

Born in Cameroon and now based in a village in northern France, the self-taught musician Blick Bassy has a knack for marrying his cultural heritage with modern soundscapes. Singing in his native language Bassa, on his four previous albums he explored his thoughts and feelings about his native land, as well as subjects like France's colonial past. He sells out concerts in places like La Cigale in Paris and the Jazz Café in London. Blick Bassy speaks to Eve Jackson about the deluxe edition of his album "Mádibá" that came out last year. "Mádibá Ni Mbondi" includes four previously unreleased tracks.
