The Baltimore Ravens will be looking to add as many key contributors as possible during the 2022 NFL draft. The team currently has 10 draft picks, with nine of those coming in the first round. Baltimore could do many different things with their first selection, which comes at No. 14. Some of those options include trading up for a star or trading down for more selections.
When listing off one 2022 draft-day trade that makes sense for every NFL team, Michelle Bruton of Bleacher Report settled on trading up for former University of Oregon star Kayvon Thibodeaux. Bruton talked about how Baltimore has reportedly shown interest in the edge rusher, but where he could be selected has been somewhat hard to gauge despite his talent.
“Baltimore has demonstrated interest in Oregon defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux, having attended his pro day, per Walter Football. Once considered a near-lock to be off the board by pick No. 3, Thibodeaux has proved to be polarizing. One defensive coach told The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman the former Duck was “a handful” when his team brought him in for a visit.”
Bruton also discusses how the New York Giants would make sense as a trade-up partner for the Ravens.
“While it’s hard to predict slides ahead of the draft, let’s assume Thibodeaux does indeed drop a few spots, prompting the Ravens to spring into action. With selections at No. 5 and 7 overall, the Giants seem like a prime trade partner with their second top-10 pick…According to the trade value calculator, the Ravens would need to give up something like Nos. 14, 45 and 197 to make the trade worth the Giants’ time.”
