The Baltimore Ravens have had a very eventful 2022 offseason, adding talent on both sides of the ball through free agency and the draft. They’ve also brought back players from their 2021 team that were free agents as well as see others depart for new opportunities with other teams.
When listing out one move that each NFL team still needs to make in the 2022 offseason, Maurice Moten of Bleacher Report said that Baltimore’s is to sign quarterback Lamar Jackson to a contract extension. Moten acknowledged that Jackson could be betting on himself in 2022, but he talked about how the Ravens should look to extend him before the Arizona Cardinals extend their quarterback in Kyler Murray.
“The Ravens should push to ink Jackson before the Arizona Cardinals extend quarterback Kyler Murray, who could also sign a massive new deal in the near future. The latter could raise the floor for the former, who’s more accomplished with a league MVP on his resume…It’s in Baltimore’s best interest to close a deal with Jackson as soon as possible.”
While Baltimore might want to get a done deal as quickly as they can, it appears that Jackson isn’t in that same boat. If he is indeed betting on himself in 2022 it’s a rather smart thing to do, as the end of his 2021 campaign wasn’t one to remember and if he can bounce back in a big way during this upcoming season, he could earn himself plenty more money.
