Blantyre actor Douglas Rankine makes Billy Boys debut on Peaky Blinders

A Blantyre actor had a sizzling debut on hit BBC One show Peaky Blinders last night.

Douglas Rankine made a dramatic appearance as a member of the Billy Boys in the fifth season of the period drama.

The 44-year-old, who also currently plays River City’s dodgy cop Joe Dunn in the BBC soap, appeared with gang members last night in a gripping scene.

In the gruesome encounter Aberama Gold, played by Aidan Gillen, pours hot tar over the face of Rankine’s character.

Fans loved the explosive scene and commented on Rankine’s twitter last night, with one saying: “Well that was intense. Well played fella #tar-ifick.”

Rankine also posted on his own Twitter page before the show aired.

He tweeted: “For everyone who’s longed to see me getting a good shoeing, check out Peaky Blinders this evening. Things are gonna git sticky...”

And he followed it up with a picture of himself after the show was aired, showing the aftermath of the attack.

He tweeted: “In case you were wondering what lies beneath!”
