'Blame Moshiri' - Simon Jordan hits out at Bill Kenwright Everton criticism

Former Premier League chairman Simon Jordan has hit out at the blame that Bill Kenwright has received from Everton fans.

Kenwright was seen speaking with supporters after the 1-0 home defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday.

In a video shared on social media , fans chanted ‘let go if you love the club’ toward the Blues chairman outside of Goodison Park.

The defeat to Villa leaves Everton 16th in the table and four points above the relegation zone - and supporters, fed-up at the way the club is being run, staged a sit-in protest after the final whistle.

But Jordan believes it is Blues owner Farhad Moshiri , and not Kenwright, who is the man to blame.

“It’s unfathomable to blame Bill Kenwright for Moshiri and his choices,” the ex-Crystal Palace chairman told talkSPORT . “Moshiri is a big boy with big bags of money.

“If he wants to bring people like Kia Joorabchian around him and take their influence; if he wants to curtail - if we are to believe that - to Bill Kenwright and others, then who do you blame?

“You don’t blame the minions for Boris Johnson’s running of this country. You blame Boris Johnson. So you blame Moshiri.”

When it was suggested by ex-Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy that the frustration was due to Kenwright being pictured alongside Moshiri, Jordan responded: ”So he’s that weak is he, Moshiri? He’s made this amount of money by being that weak?”

“I don’t think Moshiri has listened to Bill at all,” Murphy said.

To which Jordan replied, “Neither do I, so then don’t take it out on Bill.”

Defeat in Duncan Ferguson’s first game in temporary charge extended the Blues' poor run to one win in 14 league matches.

In the video that was circulated on social media, Kenwright’s response to the chants of ‘let go if you love the club’ was: “How would that help?”

A second video then came to light in which ‘27 years’ was used to highlight the last time Everton won a trophy, to which the chairman replied: “It's not 27 years - we've had some good times.”
