Blake Lively gushes over Ryan Reynolds' Wrexham AFC after dramatic top of the table win

Football fever has well and truly hit the Reynolds household in recent months after Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds took charge of Welsh side Wrexham AFC.

The Hollywood star and co-owner pal Rob McElhenney were in the stands on Monday to see their side dramatically beat title rivals Notts County thanks to an injury time penalty save by former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster.

The pair were snapped in a moment of pure elation as the veteran shot stopper's heroics in the 96th minute kept the club's promotion challenge in tact in front of a bumper crowd.

But it wasn't just Ryan and Rob who were ecstatic. While their reaction was caught on camera, Ryan's wife Blake Lively took time out to praise the club - and the entire town - in what could well be an historic day for them.

Taking to Instagram shortly after the full-time whistle blew to see Wrexham win 3-2, Blake was full of praise for the men on the pitch - and also enjoyed seeing her non-alcoholic brand Betty Buzz get a mention.

Posting a still of the game to her Instagram Stories, the actress said: "MVP @benfosters backdropped by @bettybuzz. I'm deceased."

She added: "@wrexham_afc you killed it today gentleman. Wow. Wow. Wow. All of you. And the entire town who breathes fire into you each, this is for, and because of you. What a moment. Congratulations."

Blake took a moment to also praise the travelling County side, adding: "And terrific game @nottscountyfc. Hats off to you each and all of your incredible supporters. That was beautiful."

It comes after hubby Ryan gushed over the club in an emotional interview with BT Sport in the aftermath of the win.

He joked that he felt he had "used all the beats" of his heart up during the match. "That was unlike anything I've ever seen before," he gushed.

Calling football a "beautiful torturous game," he added he is now "very hooked" on the game, admitting he was at a loss for words following the result.

"I feel an immense sense of pride," he said. "The inner strength that these guys have - it's such a mental game. They rose to the occasion in every way."

Since being taken over by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in 2021 Wrexham have been handed an unbelievable lift, and they have aspirations of climbing up the divisions.

They are now three points clear of their rivals Notts County at the top of the table, with the season's achievements set to feature in yet another addition of hit Netflix show Welcome to Wrexham.
