Blake Lively put her best fashion foot forward when she and her husband Ryan Reynolds submitted their votes for the US election, drawing heels onto her otherwise bare feet in a picture shared on Instagram.
On Thursday 22 October, Lively and Reynolds, who have been married since 2012, both shared pictures on Instagram after voting in the presidential election between Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
This election marks the first time Canadian actor Reynolds has voted in the US, having gained American citizenship in 2018.
In the picture the Deadpool star shared on Instagram, he is wearing khaki trousers and a dark blue polo shirt, while his wife is wearing a light brown top, a long jacket and pink trousers, noticeably going without any shoes.
However, in the picture shared on Lively’s profile, which is virtually identical, she is seemingly wearing a pair of strappy heels that have been “drawn on”.
In another post shared on her Instagram Story, Lively wrote that she was “so happy to get outta a onesie and vote”.
“Sure it was an absentee drop off ballot with a mask covering my look. But dammit I exercised my right to vote. And to not wear shoes that ruined my outfit.”
Several of the Gossip Girl star’s 27.4 million Instagram followers spotted her arty footwear.
“Look at her feet she's drawn on the heels lmaooo I love Blake so much,” one person commented.
Someone else pointed out that Lively – who tagged luxury footwear label Christian Louboutin in the photo – drew the heels with a red bottom, a signature feature of Louboutin heels.
Various Twitter users also commented on Lively’s decision to draw on fake shoes, with some speculating that her decision to do so was a ruse to draw people’s attention to the importance of voting in the US election.
“Someone please tell me I’m not crazy and that Blake Lively actually photoshopped a pair of heels on her feet for her photo,” one person said, in a tweet that has gained 13,900 likes.
“Blake Lively’s drawn on heels are a masterpiece lmaoooo,” another wrote.
The strappy heels weren’t the only shoes Lively drew on her feet to celebrate her and her husband’s successfully submitted votes.
On her Instagram Story, the 33-year-old also shared a picture of a pair of brown boots drawn on her feet, also featuring a red sole.
“@louboutinworld are you hiring?” she joked in the caption. “Barefoot iPhone doodler with vast experience avail.”
For the captions on their Instagram posts, both Reynolds and Lively joked about the fact that it was the Canadian actor’s first time voting in the US presidential election.
“This is my first time voting in America. I’d like to thank my wife Blake for making my first time so gentle and loving. It was super scary at first, then exciting and now I’m a little tired. But proud. #VoteEarly,” Reynolds wrote.
“It was Ryan’s first time,” Lively said. “He was understandably scared. It all happened so fast. Like, REALLY fast. He wept. I pretended to weep. Then he called all his friend. #voteearly.”
