Blackpool has been voted the top underrated UK destination for summer holidays.
While a bumper 34 million Brits are set to opt for UK holidays this summer, two thirds say they're looking to try somewhere new.
Although it is far from a hidden gem and more like one of the best loved seaside spots in the country, Blackpool has come top in new rankings of the best UK spots that don't get enough credit.
There's plenty to see and do if you are heading to the North West seaside paradise.
For a start, there's the bustling Central Pier with its attractions, shops and arcades, while Blackpool Tower remains a firm hit with visitors, mostly thanks to the incredible views of the city and sea you can enjoy from the top.
Thrill-seekers may also want to check out Blackpool Pleasure Beach which offers everything from terrifying rollercoasters to gentle rides for smaller children.
Access is completely free to all, including the piers and promenade,
Sunny days can be spent on the beach, while on rainy days there's plenty to do from the Blackpool Tower Circus to the arcades, cinemas and restaurants (including classic fish and chip shops) that make this a bustling hotspot.
Then of course there's Blackpool's world-famous nightlife which has long been drawing in stag and hen do crowds.
Not only is there a huge amount to do, Blackpool is far cheaper than some comparably well known seaside spots, and was voted the most affordable place for a holiday in the UK earlier this year.
Blackpool has a plethora of accommodation on offer, from guest houses to large-scale hotels, family-run bed and breakfasts and sea view rooms.
The Ruskin is considered the 'best value' hotel in the centre of town and has good reviews.
If a seafront hotel is what you would prefer, then there's the newly-refurbished Doric and a host of other options offering family rooms, en-suite doubles and suites at a reasonable price.
Higher-end options include the Boulevard Hotel or adjacent Big Blue Hotel at the Pleasure Beach or the Black Pearl apartment, which are rated the best on Booking.com.
