Blackpool FC striker Shayne Lavery surprises Belfast football kids after match

Shayne Lavery took time out of his schedule to meet two Belfast youth football teams who were playing in Blackpool over the Easter weekend.

Sandy Row and Shankill Juniors were both competing at the Blackpool Cup which was held from April 15-18.

Both enjoyed success at the major tournament, with Sandy Row's 2013 Bulls side lifting the Papa Joe Memorial Trophy, while Shankill won their age group.

Players and coaches of both clubs also got to enjoy Blackpool's 6-1 demolition of Birmingham City on Monday before meeting former Linfield striker Lavery.

Sandy Row said on Facebook: "After the Blackpool vs Birmingham game today, we stayed behind and former Windsor ace Shayne Lavery came and met the kids and got photos taken with them all and also a big group picture. The kids loved it, cheers mate.

"Big thanks to Blackpool FC and Shayne for their hospitality today. Well done on your win today guys, great 6-1 victory.

"Also big thanks to parent Leonard Totten whose friends Stevie Marshall and Michael Johnston from the Gallant Pioneer organised the group meeting with Shane."

Shankill Junior FC also praised Lavery for meeting their young players after the match.

They said on Facebook: "What a way to round off the trip. A big thank you to Blackpool FC and Shayne Lavery for taking the time to meet the Blackpool Cup Champions."
