A bakery slapped a "self-entitled" customer down a peg or two with a brilliant, no-nonsense response.
A customer had called a member of stuff a "w*****" when they refused to make a multi-layer cake to be delivered on the same day despite putting the order in just before 4pm.
The independent bakery had a quick-witted response though, and were not going to let a bit of negativity ruin their day.
Cake Tin Bakery, based in Blackpool's Clifton Trade Park, are rated highly by customers for their specialised bakes which include cookies, brownies, layer cakes and shakes.
The bakery takes bespoke orders online for a whole host of orders such as celebration cakes and cookie pizzas, LancsLive reports.
On Tuesday, Cake Tin Bakery shared a "truth post" with their followers on Facebook pointing out the moment a customer called them a "w*****".
They tried to place an order for a multi-layer cake at 15.47pm on a Saturday afternoon - but asked for same-day delivery.
In the bakery's delivery information on their website, they state that while they do offer same-day delivery, orders for "larger items" including Naked Layer Cakes should give a minimum of two to seven days.
For a loaded Celebration Cake, they ask for seven days' notice.
Writing to Facebook, Kelly, the owner and head baker at Cake Tin Bakery, said: "So, just to say... don't be like this one and think they can order a multi-layer cake at 15:47 on a Saturday afternoon, expect it to be baked fresh and delivered that same day. Especially without any prior communication. Cause darling, that order is gonna be cancelled."
Cake Tin Bakery then explained that the customer went on to email them "all annoyed" and warned others not to do the same.
They continued: "Don't then email us all annoyed because your self-entitled a*** didn't get what they want.
"Don't then send us abuse, like the one pictured, after we have sent you the facts, i.e. no previous communication, the fact that we are not a factory and multi-layer cakes need at least 3 days notice... Cause honey, them customer service and professionalism skills are gonna go out the window."
The family-run business was established in October 2012 and began as a home baking business under the name Cake Tin Delights.
On their website, they explain that they have only got "bigger and bigger" over the last decade, and they opened their first shop on Topping Street, Blackpool, back in July 2014. They later featured at The Cake & Bake Show in both Manchester and London.
Since October 2020, Cake Tin Bakery has operated from Clifton Trade Park where the small team, known as the "bunch of huns", help make the Cake Tin Bakery dream real.
Kelly added: "Facts are facts. We are not a factory. We don't bake a selection of layer cakes/celebration cakes to just have on the counter in the hope that someone MIGHT need one last minute. When we say "order before 4pm for same day", that means the counter stuff. Blondies, brownies, brookies and the like.
"Common sense. It's not that common!"
The bakery's no-nonsense response to the "self-entitled" customer quickly racked up over 200 likes and a bunch of comments online that were full of praise.
Within an hour, Cake Tin Bakery shared a second response in a bid to turn a "negative" into a "positive".
Cake Tin Bakery decided to use the "w*****" comment as a cheeky discount code offering customer 10 per cent off their gift boxes and goodies for June 28 only. They quipped: "don't be a w*****... read the T&C's below!! Okay, bye!"
When one follower, Joseph Adams, commented, "This isn't appropriate for a business to be advertising like this disgusting," Cake Tin Bakery simply responded with, "Okay bye".
Cake Tin Bakery is open from 10.30am until 5.30pm from Wednesday through to Saturday. On Sunday they are open from 11am until 4pm. Orders can also be placed via their website - with the appropriate notice period of course.
