Blackburn Rovers head coach Jon Dahl Tomasson has described Nottingham Forest spending "over £150million" during the summer transfer window as "quite a heavy amount" ahead of Wednesday night's Carabao Cup fourth round tie between the two teams.
The Reds recruited 23 players following their promotion to the Premier League, a figure that Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis claimed was "unavoidable" in an interview published earlier on Tuesday. Just six of the starting XI that beat Blackburn at Ewood Park in February remain at the club (Joe Worrall, Steve Cook, Scott McKenna, Ryan Yates, Jack Colback and Brennan Johnson).
The other four outfield players (Djed Spence, James Garner, Max Lowe and Keinan Davis) returned to their parent clubs after their loan spells ended, and goalkeeper Brice Samba left to join French club Lens for a seven-figure fee. Tomasson was right then in adding that "there’s been a lot of changes" at Forest since the end of last season.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Carabao Cup tie, Tomasson said the following when asked about the Reds: "I don’t know how many players they brought in, but I think they spent over £150million, which is quite a heavy amount. In that way, there’s been a lot of changes there.
"But they had a couple of good results before the break. It’s a great opportunity to compare ourselves to a team who play in the best league in the world."
