Black smoke was spotted billowing through Seaham this afternoon as fire crews worked to tackle a blaze in a nearby village.
Residents in the Camden Square area of Seaham reported seeing smoke rising through the air after a fire broke out in the nearby Dalton-le-Dale area.
Fire crews from County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service (CDDFRS) attended the scene where 500sq metres of field was found to be ablaze.

A spokesperson for CDDFRS confirmed that at 4.02pm they received a report of a fire at The Dene in Dalton-le-Dale.
Three fire appliances attended the incident and have now left the scene.
Fire crew from Seaham and Peterlee were despatched and brought the blaze under control. The incident concluded at 5.26pm.
