Why is it called Black Friday?

Black Friday is a term for the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States. It usually marks the start of the Christmas shopping season in the United States. From a shopping perspective, many stores offer big sales at heavily discounted prices which results in the day being the busiest shopping day of the year. Many stores open early and stay open late as a result and we often see people queue up outside stores and rush around to get the best deals. Enjoy the sales and saving your hard-earned cash! Speaking of which also take a look at our guide on the best golf gifts which will be ideal for Christmas.

Are the Black Friday Golf deals good this year?

Even though we don't specifically know what is on offer during the 2024 Black Friday event yet, we do expect there to be good deals out there based on our coverage of previous years. Whether it's a new driver, a golf bag, some shoes, apparel, balls, GPS, tech or more - Golf Monthly will have you covered with all the best Black Friday golf deals across the internet. Don't forget about Cyber Monday too which will take place on the 2nd December as well.

As of right now though, there are plenty of early deals as you can see above so maybe you don't need to wait until the event actually starts on the 29th November?

Where are the best places to find Black Friday golf deals?

In the US, some of the best golf retailers include PGA Tour Superstore, Rock Bottom Golf, Walmart and, of course, Amazon. In the UK, the best golf retailers include Scottsdale Golf, American Golf, Sports Direct, Click Golf and Amazon.

Amazon can be tricky to navigate (check out our best Amazon Black Friday golf deals) but they're a fantastic retailer for golf watches, lasers and balls in particular. Other retailers to keep an eye on are the brands themselves so Nike, adidas , Puma and Under Armour.

How to find the best Black Friday golf deals

Given there are literally hundreds of deals out there on golf equipment, it can be very tricky to work out which are good so I have collated my top tips for finding good deals below. I have been covering shopping events for Golf Monthly for a number of years now and picked up some little tricks for you...

1. Do research beforehand and make a list

Put simply I always say to people, know what you want to buy before going into the shopping event. That means putting in some research on the golf equipment you want so you know prices, discounts, specs, reviews and specific models in and out. That way you can be focused on the day and not have to waste time. This will also give you knowledge on what is actually a good deal.

2. Set a budget

On Black Friday it is easy to spend too much or buy things you don't actually need so I tell people to set yourself a proper budget and stick to it. And similar to that point, do not panic buy!

3. Don't limit yourself to Amazon

Of course there will be a lot of focus on Amazon during Black Friday and Cyber Monday but definitely don't limit yourself to just one retailer as we often notice other retailers like PGA TOUR Superstore, Walmart, Rock Bottom Golf and Scottsdale Golf doing sales of their own.

4. Price check everything

I really think this is one of the most important things to do when shopping in sales events. I recommend price checking something across several retailers to see if the price is actually good, or if you can get it lower somewhere else. This does require having a number of tabs open.

That being said price checking on Amazon is quite easy. I use CamelCamelCamel, a website that price checks millions of items sold on Amazon, a lot. The website tracks price lows, so if the item you're looking at was cheaper at some other point, you'll be able to see the price difference.

5. Watch out for shady reviews

This is something to be aware of. On retailers like Amazon there are a lot of reviews that are not legitimate, and whilst Amazon has removed a lot of bogus reviews, there are so many that not all of them can be. So I recommend just keeping your eyes out for reviews that seem a bit fishy. At Golf Monthly we literally only write about products we have tested ourselves so we always make sure we have a link to our review somewhere on the page.

6. Treat yourself to some early deals

There are deals running every single day so if you're in desperate need of a new golf club set, golf bag or golf watch immediately, you can find some cheap prices ahead of Black Friday in this hub page, or on specific sale pages on retailers. We recommend going early sometimes on deals because top equipment can sell out very quickly indeed. But this last point is only applicable if you have done the other five above!
