Black Eyed Peas got themselves into a sticky situation over the June bank holiday weekend after mistaking Ireland for the UK during a gig in Galway.
Thousands of fans packed into Pearse Stadium in Salthill on Saturday night to see the ‘I Gotta Feeling’ hitmakers perform.
But at one point, the band mistook Ireland for the UK when addressing the massive crowd as boos rang out.

One concertgoer took to social media to vent their frustration at the blunder as they said: "The Black Eyed Peas were fantastic in Galway tonight, but somebody needs to tell them Ireland is not in the UK.
"It’s quite surprising how many musicians/celebrities make the mistake."
Even Galway comedian Stevo Timothy joined in on the joke and said: "Out at the Black Eyed Peas gig out in Salthill and @iamwill keeps saying UK and the crowd are booing!”
Many agreed with the sentiment, as one person replied: "I think promoters or agents should have a quick sit down with the act to go over these things.”
However, band frontman Will.I.Am issued a swift apology, which is being praised by many fans who are calling for people to “move on”.
Directly after the gig, he wrote on his Twitter account to 12 million followers: “I’m so sorry for that mistake…Please forgive my ignorance and accept my apology.”
A few hours later he issued an update in a reply to a user, saying: “You’re 1000% correct…It’s not confusion…I spend lots of time in this part of the world to know the difference…todays mess up was honest airhead embarrassing mistake…and I’m sorry…the republic of Ireland fought for their independence…and that’s inspiring…”
His swift response is being praised by fans.
One Twitter user said: “Class act to admit and apologise. We love @iamwill. Moving on now folks.”
Another added: “Genuine mistake. Mountain out of a molehill. And an apology issued. No complaints from me on this.”
“Don’t sweat it iamwill you guys were great tonight and we were delighted to have you in galway ireland ; you won’t make the same mistake again lol,” a third said.
