John Worboys prowled the streets for at least seven years - targeting and sexually assaulting vulnerable women who thought they were safe when they got into his cab.
His reign of terror finally came to and end 10 years ago when he was convicted of attacks on 12 women.
And now the black cab rapist has been jailed for another six years after admitting he drugged and sexually assaulted a further four women.
It is feared he could have attacked as many as 200 victims.
Worboys always used the chilling MO with his victims as he drove his cab round central London.
As soon as the women got into his cab, he told them he had just had a big win, normally at either the casino or on the lottery.
To make up his claims, Worboys kept a huge stash of cash in his car, which he would reveal and ask his passenger to share a glass of Champagne with him to celebrate.
Believing they were helping a cheery cabbie celebrate, many accepted - but the drink was drugged with sedatives and the women would soon be insensible, which is when Worboys would strike.
When his victims were unconscious, Worboys would rape or sexually assault them - because of the effects of the drugs several had little memory of what had happened to them.
In other cases, Worboys offered some of the women cash to have sex with him.
Worboys' victims still bear the scars of their harrowing ordeals and have called for him to be locked up for life.
One told the Mail Online: "I want to see him die in prison. This man should never be allowed out.
"He has shown no remorse and is the worst predator imaginable and I can't see how anyone would see he is fit for release."
Earlier this year, the women Worboys had preyed on were horrified when it had been emerged a parole board had approved his release from prison.
There was a huge backlash which led to the resignation of the Parole Board chairman.
But now Worboys has admitted to, and been sentenced for, the further four crimes he will be at least ??? before he is eligable for release.
However, while police first started receiving reports of women being drugged and sexually assaulted as far back as 2002, officers failed to link the cases.
Over the next six years, 14 professional women, aged between 18 and 34, came forward to report sex assaults in a black cab.
All the attacks had striking similarities but it wasn't until 2007 the Worboys was first arrested on suspicion of sexual assualt on a 19-year-old woman.
He claimed the teenager had been drunk and kissed him, which seemed to be backed up by CCTV.
Then, in December of the same year, a 26-year-old woman reported that she had been drugged and raped by a black cab driver.
Just a month later, a 29-year-old insurance broker made a similar complaint to police in Essex.
In February, 2008, a lawyer was raped by Worboys in his cab, who again reported it to police.
Officers were now convinced they were dealing with a serial rapist and when a member of staff at a sexual assault referral unit rememebered the case from 2007, Worboys was arrested.
Terrifyingly, when officers searched his cab and found a bag with "everything he would need" to carry out the rapes.
It contained condoms, painkillers, sleeping pills, plastic gloves, vibrators, a torch and booze.
DNA evidence then linked him to several of the women who had reported their rape ordeals.
Worboys was charged with 23 counts and pleaded not guilty to all of them.
He claimed he had had "banter" with each of the women.
Worboys said he craved "attention" because he had been denied this and "cuddles" when he was growing up.
He also insisted all of the sex was consensual.
The jury did not believe his version of his twisted crimes and Worboys was convicted of one rape, five sexual assaults, one attempted assault and 12 drugging charges.
The judge ordered he should be jailed until the parole board decided he no longer posed a threat to women.
But Worboys twisted behaviour started long before his brave victims first reported their horrific ordeals.
An ex-girlfriend claims she was Worboys first victim 30 years ago after he spiked her drink and raped her.
She has described him as "pure evil", "a danger and a risk to the public" and has said he should never be released.
After leaving school with few qualifcations, Worboys worked in a number of dead end jobs before he started work as a stripper in 1987.
He used the alias Terry the Minder, but stripping was only the tip of the iceberg.
Before long he had moved into the murky world of porn films, directing and appearing in one, and letting his flat be used to make the adult movies.
As a stripper, Worboys performed at hen parties, gay events and even as a kissogram.
But it was his work as an amateur porn director that earned him a cult following.
Then he decided to move into the more respectable work of cab driving.
Worboys made up to £1,000 a week, cash, and built up a property empire in the capital.
He owned a flat in eats London, as well as properties in Enfield, north London, and Harpenden, Hertfordshire.
His life as a cabbie also gave him the access he craved to his victims - clever, successful, and ultimately vulnerable, women.
All of that came crumbling down around him when the serial rapist was finally captured and jailed.
And since he was locked up at HMP Wakefield, Worboys is said to have struck up a bizarre friendship with Baby P's killer.
Steven Barker, who killed his 17-month-old step-son, is serving life after the toddler died from more than 50 injuries, inflicted over eight months,
Barker and Worboys are said to have formed a close bond after working together in the hospital wing of the prison.
They clean, prepare and serve food.
A source told The Sun : "They are really close and spend a lot of time together."
But even after his crimes were exposed, Worboys still holds appeal and is said to get 50 letters a month "from admirers".
He has even had marriage proposals as he serves time behind bars.
Worboys reportedly boasted to inmates the women writing to him claim they want to meet him when he is out of prison and some even say they want to marry him.
The serial rapist also claimed he is offered money to help him out and support for when he is released.
The former stripper from Rotherhithe, south east London, has reportedly said they send him the letters telling Worboys they find him "very attractive".
