Slamming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the ‘harassment’ of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi using Enforcement Directorate (ED), Shiv Sena on Thursday said that the principle that ‘all are equal before law’ is dead in the country.
“The ED only targets leaders of Shiv Sena, Congress, Trinamool, Samajwadi Party, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and RJD. The ED officials barge in to houses of leaders of these parties. But they never bothered BJP leaders ever. Dr. Subramaniam Swamy who had raised the issue of National Herald is pointing fingers at financial transactions in IPL. But the law that is applied to National Herald is not used for IPL. The principle that law is equal for all is dead in this country,” said an editorial in party mouthpiece.
It said that the only tool remained to be used to finish off the Opposition from the country is a gas chamber as used by the Hitler. “Political vendetta is heading towards that and no rule of law is seen in the country,” it said.
Terming the questions raised by Congress MP P. Chidambaram to ED as sharp, the editorial said that the ED has no satisfactory answers to it.
“Chidambaram questioned which scheduled offence is committed by Rahul Gandhi under PMLA and whether any agency has filed an FIR. There are no satisfactory answers to these questions with the ED. They [ED] are being told from the top to target Rahul Gandhi and they are following the orders,” it said. The editorial named Anil Deshmukh, Nawab Malik, Anil Parab, Sanjay Raut, Laluprasad Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav, Abhishek Banerjee who are being ‘targeted’ by the ED on orders from the top.
It added that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) not only wants to erase the memories of Pandit Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi but wants to wipe out the family tree.
“Power should be used with humility and implemented for national welfare. Today, political fights have reached to destroy families…Harassing Rahul Gandhi and making a show of it, shutting down every dissenting voice is the new democracy,” the editorial said, adding that the bulldozers are running not only houses but also on the rights of people and the country’s independence.
