Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who made a quick visit to Karnataka, set a target of winning more than 150 Assembly seats of the total 224 in the next elections and asked the party to prepare an appropriate road map to reach the target, building upon the tempo set after the party managed to win elections to four State assemblies.
He gave the direction to the party top leaders on Friday at a meeting of the State core committee that was held hours before he wound up his State tour.
Briefing reporters after the core committee meeting, BJP national general secretary C. T. Ravi said Mr. Shah had also advised the party State unit to constitute a team of leaders to decide on including leaders from other political parties into BJP.
“The Opposition parties are in doldrums after the BJP won elections to four State assemblies. Several prominent leaders from these parties are now looking at BJP for their political future. In this context, we will form a team to decide on the leaders whom we can include in our fold,” he said.
In addition to this, the BJP would also identify prominent personalities with social concern from different walks of life for requesting them to identify with the party, he said.
