BJP-RSS ideology relies largely on the Nazi playbook, says PDP

Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over The Kashmir Files movie, the monthly newsletter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday alleged that the BJP-Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideology largely relies on the Nazi playbook.

“For the BJP, the real victims are and will always be the Hindus beyond Kashmiri Pandits, which is a funny coincidence because the Germans viewed themselves as victims and the Jews as the perpetrators. After all, the BJP-RSS ideology largely relies on the Nazi playbook,” the newsletter editorial said.

Referring to the film, the PDP mouthpiece said that the issue of Kashmiri Pandits, who were targeted by militants and forced to flee from the valley in early 1990, was being used as a stepping stone to aid of the BJP’s “more sinister plans”.

“The country is being ruled by the proponents of Hindutva that, after having put every Indian minority in danger, want you to believe that ‘Hindu khatre mein hain” (Hindus are in danger),” it said.

The PDP newsletter said it was shameful and appalling to minimise the pain of Kashmiri Pandits. “There can be no Kashmiriyat without Kashmiri Pandits,” it said.

Meanwhile, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday alleged that the government was hellbent on the economic disempowerment of Jammu and Kashmir.

“On the one hand, the administration is hounding Jammu & Kashmir’s business community through the ED (Enforcement Directorate), CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) and NIA (National Investigation Agency), and on the other, it continues to facilitate crony capitalists to grab up everything at cheap prices in the distressed economy. The entire J&K has been put on sale for the people from outside. They want to target our self-sufficiency,” Ms. Mufti said.

She met a delegation of office-bearers of the Kashmir Distributors Association (KDA) and discussed the government’s move to facilitate the opening of ‘Reliance Jio marts’ across the Kashmir valley.

“Competing with behemoths like Reliance having deep pockets, logistical advantages and facilitation by the system is simply not possible for us and will eventually destroy us. If our market share is destroyed, we will default and these corporations will act as ‘vulture capitalists’ and devour us,” the delegation said.
