Mainly on the roof, windows and windscreen, there is an easy explanation thankfully.

A combination of south eastern winds and a rare 'Saharan' weather event has caused dust particles from the desert to sweep north across Europe.

That has seen red skies and dust storms across Spain, France, Germany and even Ireland, with some experts believing the clouds could even reach Denmark.

Expert Alan O'Reilly explained: "A few showers overnight brought down plenty of Sahara dust from atmosphere which has been carried in those Southeast winds. The car washes will be busy this week"

In fact, temperatures will reach the high teens in some spots, with Irish people being able to whip out the barbecue to celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday if current indications are to be believed!
