Bizarre footage shows the moment a man brandishing a giant blue dildo while 'protesting' on the University of Salford campus is tackled to the floor and arrested by police.
Officers were called to Salford University's Peel Park campus at around 3:40pm this afternoon (Thursday February 23) to reports of a man acting aggressively and refusing to leave the Whitworth Library.
Video captured by eyewitnesses shows police tackling the man while he shouts and waves the sex toy while stood on a bench. He was then arrested for breach of the peace and common assault, and taken into custody.
One eyewitness told the Manchester Evening News the man told police he was 'protesting', although the witness said he was unsure what the man was protesting against.
He said the man had been 'brandishing a phallic object' and described the police response as 'quick'.
In a statement, GMP said: "Police were called to reports of man acting aggressively and refusing to leave Whitworth Library at the University of Salford, around 3.40pm today, Thursday 23 February 2023.
"On arrival, officers arrested the man for breach of the peace and S39 common assault and he was taken into custody for questioning."
The University of Salford has been contacted for comment.
