A drunk one-punch killer who attacked a man after seeing him speak to his girlfriend is amongst those who was jailed this week. Jonathan Adamson ‘launched’ himself at David Aubert in Manchester city centre’s Gay Village, knocking him unconscious with a ‘heavy flying punch’.
Defenceless Mr Aubert, who was walking home when he was attacked from behind, was found dead six days later at his home.
Others jailed in Greater Manchester this week include a thug who bit his neighbour and a predator who raped a young girl and uploaded the images to the internet.

A 'bladdered’ thug killed a 'lovely' man in a 'senseless' unprovoked attack after seeing him speaking to his girlfriend. Drink fuelled Jonathan Adamson, 25, 'launched' himself at 59-year-old David Aubert in Manchester city centre's Gay Village.
He jumped in the air and hit Mr Aubert with a 'heavy flying punch', knocking him unconscious for a time. Defenceless Mr Aubert, who was walking home when he was attacked from behind, was found dead six days later at his home.
'Paranoid' Adamson, who worked for a building company, had been in a 'jealous' rage after wrongly accusing his girlfriend of dancing too close to other men during their night out, Manchester Crown Court heard. As the investigation into Mr Aubert's death gathered pace, Greater Manchester Police issued stills of CCTV footage in a bid to track down the killer.
Adamson's family recognised him in the images and challenged him. His mother later drove him to the police station. "Mum, I’m scared," Adamson told her.
He was jailed for seven years and four months after pleading guilty to manslaughter. "This was unprovoked, senseless violence," Judge Nicholas Dean KC told Adamson, from Stalybridge, of Stocks Lane, Stalybridge, who wept throughout the hearing.
"Your actions were utterly shocking. Only you can say why you acted as you did. You will live with what you have done for the rest of your life, but so too will Mr Aubert's family."

A thug bit a brave Good Samaritan mum on the arm 'like a dog' after she intervened in a neighbour row. The woman had to be referred for plastic surgery after Lewis Arden clamped his teeth down on her forearm during the disgraceful attack in Stockport.
Arden turned on the woman, a teaching assistant, after she saw Arden throwing punches at a neighbour of hers while she was out walking her dog in Edgeley. Manchester Crown Court heard that 30-year-old Arden 'squared up' to her after she checked up on her neighbour and said: "Do you want me to f****** punch you?"
He proceeded to punch her to her upper body, on September 23 last year. Unfazed by the raging thug, the woman, defended herself and put Arden in a headlock and dragged him to the ground.
Arden broke free and punched her to the face, knocking her to the floor, before kicking her to the head. She fought back again, punching Arden who then bit her on the arm.
She screamed at him to stop but he continued to sink his teeth into her forearm. "He was almost ripping her flesh by moving his head whilst his teeth were clamped onto her skin," prosecutor Saul Brody said.
Sentencing him to three years in prison, the judge, Recorder Imran Shafi KC told Arden: "It appeared to be more like an attack by a prohibited dog than it would be by a human being. But one has to wonder whether even a dog would have behaved in the way that you did."
Arden, of Petersburg Road, Stockport, pleaded guilty to section 20 wounding, a racially aggravated public order offence and battery.
Sickening crimes of paedophile who raped young girl and uploaded images to internet exposed after phones seized
The sickening crimes of a paedophile who sexually assaulted young girls and uploaded indecent images to the internet were exposed after his phones were seized by police.
'Dangerous predator' Matthew Singleton, 35, from Westhoughton, was caught after intelligence from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) led Greater Manchester police officers to his door on May 14 2021, in relation to uploading indecent child images to the internet.
Three mobile phones were seized from his property that revealed Singleton had taken pictures and videos of himself carrying out the horrific sexual offences against two young girls.
He was arrested and on September 28 last year was charged with 13 sexual offences including rape, sexual assault of a child and making indecent images of them, plus three further counts of making indecent images of children.
Singleton pleaded guilty to sexual assaulting the girls, making indecent images of them and downloading other images, but throughout the case he denied rape. However, following a trial which concluded in February this year, the jury found him guilty of five counts of rape and one count of attempted rape.
He was sentenced for his crimes at Bolton Crown Court on April 19 to 22 years behind bars. He was also handed a six-year extended licence period and given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

A drunken yob who stormed out of a Stalybridge bar after a bust up was allowed back in to finish his beer - just moments after threatening door staff with a kitchen knife.
Andrew Perry, 43, left the Back To The 80s bar on Market Street after being involved in a heated argument with a group of women. He returned to the bar an hour later armed with the blade demanding to be readmitted.
Despite pressing the weapon into a bouncer's chest and threatening to slash the manager's neck, he was allowed back in after giving the doorman a hug. He was even advised to hand in the knife at reception and collected it at the end of the evening.
At Minshull Street Crown Court, Perry, of Foundry Street, Dukinfield, was jailed for 15 months after he admitted two charges of threatening another person with a bladed article and the possession of a bladed article.
The father of one, who works as a fork lift truck driver, was arrested after he sent an apology to staff at the bar the following morning and admitted: ''I crossed a line.''
In sentencing, the judge Mr Recorder Michael Blakey told Perry: “The use of weapons is at epidemic level in society, with numerous incidents of people who are carrying weapons and incidents that lead to death. May this be a warning that if you carry a knife, you are more than likely going to lose your liberty.”
Wigan dad found with bestiality pictures hacked hundreds of webcams to spy on women having sex - until he was caught by the FBI
A dad-of-three hacked into hundreds of webcams so he could spy on women undressing and having sex.
Christopher Taylor, 60, tricked 772 people from across the world into unwittingly relinquishing control of their webcams so he could monitor their private lives.
He used the malware to log onto victims' computer devices while they ate, studied and did yoga. Police believe 47 women engaging in sexual activity with their partner were secretly watched by Taylor from his laptop at his home in Wigan.
He was caught after staff at Georgia Institute of Technology, in the United States, tipped off the FBI when the malware was found on the laptop of a student at the university's aerospace laboratory. When police raided his home in 2016, Taylor - a full-time carer for his wife - told officers: “It’s just what I’ve been meddling with on the computer.”
At Bolton Crown Court today (Tuesday), he was jailed for 14 months.
The court heard that after hacking the devices, Taylor made recordings of dozens of his oblivious victims for his own "sexual gratification".
Between 2010 and 2016, he amassed 80,000 images and videos. Officers also discovered a total of 82 bestiality images and videos, including one depicting a woman having sex with a dog, saved to his pen drive.
An investigation revealed that Taylor had also deleted thousands of files before he was arrested. Taylor lured in his victims with a phony link he placed on porn sites, which, when clicked, would allow him full access to their laptop’s function, including the webcam.
American law enforcement officials had asked for him to be extradited to the US to face trial for wire fraud and computer fraud but their request was rejected after a London court ruled it would ''negatively impact'' Taylor's ailing wife. Police brought charges against him at the end of last year, nearly seven years after the initial investigation.
Taylor, of Vicarage Road, Abram, Wigan, has previously pleaded guilty to securing unauthorised access to computer material and voyeurism. He also admitted possession of extreme pornography over obscene images found on his devices.
Driver dived on bonnet of moving car to try and stop thief from taking his dog
A driver was thrown from the bonnet of his own car as he tried to stop a thief from stealing it. Gareth Dickinson was walking past the victim's house when he saw his Hyundai Tucson parked on the driveway of his home on Grand Union Way in Eccles, Salford.
The victim had been sitting in his car defrosting the windscreen on a cold Sunday morning, before planning on taking his dog for a walk. He nipped back into his house after realising he had left his dog lead inside, leaving the engine running.
'Opportunistic' Dickinson, 38, then got into the car and reversed off the drive with the man's dog still inside, bumping into a white van before driving away, Manchester Crown Court heard. After realising his car was being stolen, the driver 'jumped' onto the bonnet to try and stop the thief.
He drove down the wrong side of the road, and a taxi driver had to slam on his brakes to avoid a head on collision. Dickinson accelerated and moved onto the correct side of the road, which caused his victim to be thrown from the car and fall onto the pavement.
He then drove off and crashed into a fence post a short distance away, prosecutor David Farley said. The police were called and Dickinson was apprehended, and the victim was reunited with his dog.
He suffered cuts and bruises and a bump to his head. "He is very lucky that these injuries were not more grave, because they could have been," Dickinson's barrister said.
"No doubt he was very shaken up by what had taken place," the judge, Recorder Carwyn Cox added, before sentencing Dickinson to 10 months in prison.
Dickinson, of Worsley Road, Eccles, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance. He was also banned from the roads for two years and three months.
Man strangled girlfriend and shoved fingers down her throat after she found his secret Snapchat account
A man strangled his girlfriend after she found he had a secret Snapchat account full of messages from other women. Derius Campbell, 22, was confronted by the woman about the account and an argument ensued.
During the row he picked up a butter knife and threatened her, before taking away her mobile phone. She later received a message from a woman claiming to have met up with him days before, Manchester Crown Court heard.
After challenging him about it, he grabbed her by the throat and left her ‘gasping for air’. He also ‘shoved’ two fingers down her throat.
Campbell, of Moss Side, pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation, threatening a person with a blade and a breach of a suspended sentence. He was jailed for two years and three months after the judge activated part of his suspended sentence.
Weeping coward with attitude 'from the Stone Age' left ex terrified
A thug with an attitude that ‘belongs in the Stone Age’ grabbed his ex by the neck and threatened to kill her so ‘nobody else could have her’. Michael O’Neill, 37, met the woman on Facebook while he was in prison and the pair entered into a relationship.
It continued when he was released last year, but turned sour. He became controlling and abusive.
O’Neill repeatedly checked her phone, made threats to kill her and even threatened to throw acid in her face so ‘nobody else would want her’, Minshull Street Crown Court heard.
The woman ended the relationship on January 11 this year after she received a message from another woman saying O’Neill had been cheating on her.
The court heard O’Neill also sent numerous abusive messages to the woman’s ex-partner. He said he knew where the man worked and lived, where his mum and family lived and that would ‘smash the s**t out of every one of [them]’.
He sent the man pictures of a machete, with a message reading: “I’m going to put this through you, on my son’s grave.” He also threatened to ‘beat him like a b***h’ and made threats to ‘kick his child around like a football’.
In February, O’Neill smashed the front window of the woman’s house. He was arrested in March and found with a small bag of cocaine.
“I feel too scared to go into my own house,” the woman said in a statement. “I’m terrified of him turning back up at my house, he’s very unpredictable and he’s not the person I thought he was.”
O’Neill, of Long Street, Middleton, was jailed for 22 months and banned from contacting his ex for five years - and another person for other matters - under the terms of a restraining order.
He previously pleaded guilty to criminal damage; sending indecent messages; assault occasioning actual bodily harm; possession of cocaine; and engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour. He admitted stalking in relation to another person.
