Bishop T.D. Jakes, the 67-year-old pastor of The Potter's House in Dallas, had a health scare while delivering a sermon on Sunday. The incident occurred as Jakes was speaking during a lengthy sermon at the megachurch he founded in 1996.
During the sermon, footage shared on social media showed Jakes pausing and shaking as individuals approached him on stage. Following the concerning moment, Jakes received immediate medical attention after the hour-long sermon.
As of Sunday night, Jakes was reported to be stable, according to a statement released by The Potter's House. The church expressed gratitude for the love, prayers, and support received from the community during this time.
The Potter's House, a nondenominational, multicultural Christian church, boasts a membership of over 30,000 individuals, as stated on its website.
In a video posted on Instagram, Bishop Jakes' daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, and her husband, Toure´ Roberts, provided an update on Jakes' condition. They mentioned that Jakes was already showing signs of improvement and was under medical care.
Sarah Jakes Roberts emphasized the importance of showing love and gratitude to loved ones, especially as the holiday season approaches. Toure´ Roberts expressed gratitude for the prayers and support received, noting that the situation could have been tragic but was averted by the mercy and grace of God.
While Bishop Jakes continues to recover, the community and congregation of The Potter's House remain united in their support and well wishes for his speedy recovery.
