Bishop Stabbed At Sydney Church Service, Suspect Arrested

Police work at the scene following a stabbing at Christ The Good Shepherd Church in the suburb of Wakeley in Sydney

On Monday, a disturbing incident unfolded at Christ The Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley, western Sydney, where a bishop and several others were reportedly stabbed during a church service. This incident occurred just two days after a mass stabbing at a busy shopping mall in the city.

A video of the attack shows a clergyman being assaulted while a ceremony was taking place inside the church. Witnesses immediately rushed to intervene as screams echoed through the church.

Following the incident, police were called to the scene and promptly arrested a man who was later removed from the church premises. Fortunately, none of the injured individuals sustained life-threatening injuries. Paramedics provided initial treatment at the scene before transporting the victims to the hospital for further care.

In response to the situation, New South Wales police issued a statement emphasizing their efforts to restore order. They advised the public to steer clear of the area as a significant police presence was deployed to manage the aftermath of the attack.

This violent episode comes on the heels of a tragic stabbing incident at Westfield Bondi Junction on Saturday, where six people lost their lives, including five women. The perpetrator, identified as 40-year-old Joel Cauchi, allegedly targeted women in the attack. Twelve others were injured, with eight individuals remaining hospitalized in conditions ranging from stable to critical as of Monday.
