Birmingham manager reacts to Manchester United considering recalling Hannibal Mejbri from loan

Birmingham manager John Eustance has confirmed Manchester United's Hannibal Mejbri wants to stay on loan.

Hannibal joined Birmingham on a season-long loan in August and he's become an important player at St. Andrew's. The youngster has made 10 starts in the Championship this season and he's also made an appearance in every game since he signed.

United and Birmingham have a healthy relationship with loan transfers, but Eustace could be helpless in potentially losing Hannibal this season, should Erik ten Hag decide to exercise the club's option to recall from his loan earlier than expected.

The Manchester Evening News revealed last month that Hannibal is one of a few players who the club are now considering recalling, along with Ethan Laird and Amad, but Birmingham manager Eustance has insisted the Tunisian wants to stay.

"Everyone that is on loan wants to stay here, it's a very happy group and we want everyone to stay until the end of the season," Eustace told Birmingham Live. "The most important thing is that we don't get any injuries. We keep working hard.

"If we do lose players, there's nothing we can do, we just get on with it. Whoever would come in, it's a great opportunity for them to claim a shirt. Again, the group is very tight and we want everyone here until the end of the season, but a lot of it is out of my control.

"When we signed the players, we wanted players with a point to prove. You've got a squad in there with a point to prove. Everyone is equal; there are no loans, there's no young and old, everyone is on a level playing field and everyone is getting on really well."

Hannibal is contracted at Old Trafford until the summer of 2024.
