Birmingham business figure Karl George joins RSM

One of the most prominent and well-known figures in Birmingham's business community has taken on a new role.

Karl George has joined financial services firm RSM as a partner and head of governance.

Mr George, who is a qualified accountant, founded and ran consultancy The Governance Forum for more than 25 years but has now decided to sell the business.

He also created the Effective Board Member programmes and worked with senior executives in the private, public and voluntary sectors at organisations such as PwC, The Football Association and Edinburgh Napier University.

In his new role, Mr George will be based in RSM's Birmingham.

The firm said his appointment "marks a major step" as it looked to strengthen and expand its ability to offer environmental, social and governance advice and services to UK middle market businesses.

Mr George said: "I'm delighted to be joining RSM during what is an exciting period of growth and opportunity for the firm.

"I look forward to applying my expertise to help develop the team and support its clients to help realise their goals."

RSM's regional managing partner Mark Taylor added: "We're delighted to welcome Karl to the team.

"His appointment marks a major step for us in realising our ambition to offer market-leading advice that is tailored to individual businesses and their objectives.

"His extensive experience of working with complex, public and private sector organisations both big and small sets us in good stead.

"I'm very much looking forward to working closely with Karl and wish him every success in his new role with us."
