Senator Jeanne Shaheen, the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has emphasized the bipartisan support in Congress for Ukraine despite what she perceives as a 'mixed message' from the Trump administration. In an interview on CBS' 'Face the Nation,' Shaheen pointed out conflicting statements made by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and other top administration officials regarding Ukraine's potential NATO membership and territorial borders.
Shaheen expressed her hope that despite the mixed signals, the U.S. would continue to provide strong support to Ukraine. She commended Republican Senator Roger Wicker, Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, for expressing his concerns over Hegseth's remarks about Ukraine's future.

Highlighting the bipartisan consensus in Congress, Shaheen stressed the commitment to assisting Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. She noted the widespread unease among allies at the Munich Security Conference regarding the U.S. stance on Ukraine.
Shaheen reassured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that there is unity among the United States, NATO allies, and European partners in holding Russian President Vladimir Putin accountable through sanctions. She underscored the importance of maintaining a strong and consistent approach in supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression.
