Biotech giant Pall Corporation has announced it is looking to add more than 100 staff to its newly expanded production facility in Devon.
Pall manufactures filtration products which are used in a wide range of industries to help clean and purify medicines, water supplies and electronic equipment during the production process.
The US firm currently employs around 750 people at its base in Ilfracombe, which was visited by former Chancellor Rishi Sunak at the start of this year.
BusinessLive understands following an investment to convert warehouse space into new production space at the facility on Station Road, the company is now looking to fill a further 105 positions and boost its workforce in the town.
Site general manager Peter Brocklesby said: “When Rishi Sunak MP visited our plant back in January, he saw the warehouse space that we were about to convert to extend our production facilities.
“Now, 10 months on, those cells as we call them are nearly ready to begin producing filters that are used in the manufacture of things like vaccines, cancer treatments as well as the food, drink and many other products.”
Pall said filters made in Ilfracombe were “extensively” used during the Covid-19 pandemic, as vaccine manufacturers increased production, leading it to extend its workforce. It said more staff were now needed with demand “growing” for its products across more sectors.
Pall produces more than 5.7 million filters in Ilfracombe a year, while it also operates two sites in Cornwall, in Redruth and Newquay.
