‘Bing bong!’: This TikTok account has gone viral for their hilarious interviews with New Yorkers

A TikTok account has gone viral for its hilarious interviews with the people of New York.

The account @sidetalknyc has more than 2.9 million followers for its weird and wonderful interviews with people on the streets of the Big Apple.

Their short videos, which include the now famous phrases of “bing bong” and “Joe Byron”, have over 36 million likes and have trended across TikTok since the account began in March of 2020.

The page is run by two young students called Trent Simonian and Jack Byrne, and began as a YouTube channel in October of 2019. Their channel now has over 360,000 subscribers and they also have over one million followers on Instagram.

Perhaps most famously, the page brought the phrase “bing bong” to viral status after an interview with one of many excited New York Knicks fans called Jordie Bloom shouted the expression – reportedly meant to imitate the sound of subway doors closing - outside Madison Square Garden.

The phrase is now all over TikTok, as are many others posted by Side Talk NYC with viewer favourites including references to US President Joe Biden, who has been re-named as “Joe Byron” by this lovely gentleman.

Side Talk NYC TikTok videos feature interviews with celebrities such as rappers Lil Uzi Vert and ASAP Rocky.

Also featured on the page are internet celebrities such as the late ‘Queen of Brooklyn’ – real name, Nenobia Washington – who went viral for her passionate rant against terrorist organization, ISIS, and support for rapper, Biggie Smalls and the man who regularly dresses as a large rat around New York, real name Jonothon Lyons.

We’ve collated together just some of the most popular Side Talk NYC videos that truly showcase all the weird and wonderful people and things that New York City has to offer.
