IRISH pop-rock heavyweights The Script will visit the Hunter Valley for the first time on their upcoming Australian tour.

The Hall Of Fame, Superheroes and Breakeven hit-makers will perform at Bimbadgen for A Day On The Green on January 25.

Joining The Script at Bimbadgen will be a star-studded bill including English pop artist Calum Scott, Australian songstress Montaigne and US folk-pop act X Ambassadors.

The tour is preceded by the release of The Script's seventh album and first since 2019, Satellites, on August 16. The album features the latest singles Both Ways and At Your Feet.

"We just wanna get out in front of as many people as we can," The Script front man Danny O'Donoghue told the Newcastle Herald while on tour in Sweden with US pop megastar Pink.

"The point of the Pink tour was to get out in front of new fans and the point of our own tour is to get out in front of people who might not be able to come to us.

"It's about new people. We have an amazing fan base already, that we will be playing to, but I don't know man, our music is catching a new wind online and on Tik-Tok as well.

"We've seen this explosion of younger people loving the old material. So it's funny we have new music to go to the old fans and old music for the new fans. It's fun."

It promises to be an emotional tour. It'll be The Script's first trip to Australia since the death of founding member and lead guitarist, Mark Sheehan, in April last year.

Sheehan, 46, died after a brief undisclosed illness.

"There will be bittersweet moments coming up on the tour when we have songs we dedicate to him and recognise him," O'Donoghue said.

"They're always such hyper emotional moments, but I'm looking forward to them because we haven't played in Australia since."

Artist pre-sales for The Script's show at Bimbadgen begins next Tuesday at 10am, before general public tickets are available on Friday, August 9 at 12pm.
