Billy Porter's remote-controlled Grammys hat sparks hilarious memes

Billy Porter has sparked a brand new meme with his extravagant outfit at the 62nd Grammy Awards.

The 50-year-old actor stole the show when he debuted a motorised hat on the red carpet on January 26 before the annual music event held at the Los Angeles Staples Centre.

The Pose star – known for his astounding outfits during awards season – arrived in a blue crystal jumpsuit by Baja East, complete with a matching cropped jacket, silver platform shoes, and a crystal fringe at the bottom of his trousers.

His remote-controlled headgear was a showstopper as the bedazzled fringe – which initially covered his face – slowly opened up in the middle to reveal the man behind the fashion statement.

Porter, already a Grammy winner from his time on Broadway's Kinky Boots, wasn't nominated for any awards this year.

Elsewhere, Billie Eilish enjoyed a record-breaking night of success.

The 18-year-old – set to become the youngest artist to ever record the theme for a James Bond film – took home song of the year, best new artist, album of the year and record of the year during Sunday’s ceremony.

Her hit single Bad Guy earned her two of the prizes and her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? won three, including best pop vocal album.

Other winners included Lizzo - who honoured Kobe Bryant in her speech - and Tyler, The Creator, who brought his mum on stage with him.
