American voice actor Billy Kametz has died aged 35 following a battle with colon cancer.

Kametz voiced characters in some of the most iconic animated franchises including Pokémon and Attack on Titan.

An agency called Point of Contact announced news of the death on Twitter.

“Billy was so appreciative and blown away by the very large outpouring of support and love he received during his battle with colon cancer”, they wrote.

“He wanted everyone to know how much it was appreciated and thanks everyone, especially his fans who he loved so much.”

His girlfriend Erica Lindbeck posted her own tribute on Instagram, writing: “I will be in love with you for the rest of my life.”

Kametz is known for roles including Josuke Higashikata in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Naofumi Iwatani in The Rising of the Shield Hero and Galo Thymos in Promare.

He also voiced video game characters including Ferdinand von Aegir in Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Fire Emblem Heroes, and also Blue in Pokémon Masters.

His death comes just months after he told fans that he had been diagnosed with colon cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy.

Several fans took to Twitter to tell of their heartbreak following his passing.

“I don’t think a VA passing has ever messed with me more than Billy Kametz,” one user wrote.

“I’m wishing the best for his family and friends, genuinely. He was an utter legend and one of the greatest VA’s of all time.”

“Billy Kametz brought to life so many incredible roles to life but him bringing such heart and soul to Maruki is honestly part of why I’m still alive today,” another added.
