Billy Joel's Historic Madison Square Garden Residency Comes To End

Billy Joel

Billy Joel concluded his legendary Madison Square Garden residency with a memorable performance alongside his two youngest daughters, Della and Remy. The iconic singer, aged 75, marked his 150th and final show at the renowned New York City venue on July 25.

During the show, Jimmy Fallon presented Joel with a banner for the “most lifetime performances by any artist,” with Della and Remy joining their father on stage to share the special moment. The girls, dressed in matching outfits, later sat with Joel at his piano to assist in performing his hit song “My Life,” with Della even showcasing her singing and dancing skills on stage.

Joel, who shares Della and Remy with his wife Alexis Roderick, humorously remarked, “I guess it’s her life now. Thanks, girls,” referencing the song's lyrics. The family moment was captured by fans and shared widely on social media platforms.

Notable attendees at the show included celebrities like Paul Rudd, former New York governor Andrew Cuomo, and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Joel also collaborated with Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses for renditions of popular songs like “Live and Let Die” and “Highway to Hell.” Rose joined Joel for the final song of the night, “You May Be Right.”

This wasn't the first time Joel incorporated his family into his performances. In previous shows, Della and Remy joined him on stage for renditions of songs like “Jingle Bells” and “Don’t Ask Me Why,” showcasing their musical talents and adding a personal touch to the performances.

In a 2019 interview, Joel expressed his joy at being an older father, emphasizing how his daughters keep him youthful and bring immense happiness to his life. The family-oriented conclusion of his Madison Square Garden residency highlighted the special bond Joel shares with his daughters and the joy they bring to his performances.
